Being Less Protective May Be Better for Kids

As parents we always want to make things better, if our kids are hurting we want to fix it. But sometimes that is not the best thing to do. When we as parents try to fix everything it can keep our children from drawing his or her own conclusion that everything will be all right or teach them how to deal with disappointment.
So what should we do when our children are hurting? Try taking some time before you act and analyze the situation as to whether you belong in the equation. We are suppose to offer love and support and an ear to listen.

New meaning to "Green" cars

Race car designers in Britain have designed an entirely organic vehicle. This car has a steering wheel made of carrots, a body made of potatoes and a seat made from soybeans. It uses plant-oil based lubricants and a biodiesel engine that can run on chocolate and vegetable oil . (What a waste of chocolate though!) The car was created by Warwick University's WorldFirst team and they hope it leads the way to other environmentally friendly race cars. And yes it is suppose to be as fast as the other race cars. Sounds tastey.

Traveling to CA - you may want to check out the Stagecoach Festival

Check out the headliners - Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Reba McEntire. The 3rd annual Stagecoach Country Music Festival starts Saturday with performances from Reba, Little Big Town, the Charlie Daniels Band and Brad just to name a few. Then on Sunday there are performances from Kid Rock, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, the Zac Brown Band and Kenny with other great artist like Ricky Skaggs as well. What do you think - does this makeover work for the Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle? I think she looks good, but others think it makes her look older. No matter what she can still sing!

Kutcher is the Champ!!

Ashton Kutcher beat out CNN in the Twitter contest of who would be the first to land a million followers. The race was neck-and-neck and drew much attention, but it was Kuthcer that took away the win. And in the end it is World Malaria Day that will truly benefit from the win because Kutcher offered to donate ten-thousand mosquito nets and CNN offered to donate them no matter who won.

WOW she has a lot to say!

A 13 year girl from Cheyenne, WY sent 10,000 text messages and received about the same number in one month. The thing is her parents did not have a text messaging plan, so the bill they received was.... $4,756.25 for one month! Well the daughter's cell phone met the hammer when her father saw the bill and is now in many pieces.

Plus this girl was texting when she was in school and suppose to be listening to her teachers. Her grades had gone from A's and B's to F's. Now with no cell phone her grades have already gone back up.

The consequence of her actions - 1. Her cell phone is in many pieces as mentioned. 2. She is grounded for the rest of the school year. The daughter said she learned her lesson.

Her parents are asking the school to toughen up on their cell phone policy.

The bill - Verizon graciously lowered the bill to a more reasonable level. What that reasonable level is we are not sure, but it is not $4,756.

Country is back on Broadway

Joe Nichols will play the lead role in the Broadway version of the George Strait film, Pure Country. Nichols told CMT Insider he would be going to New York City at the end of October and that the show would start in early 2010. Nichols said the production is an updated version of the 1992 movie. Asked how he feels about stepping into a role originated by Strait, Nichols said, "It feels pretty amazing. He's been a hero of mine since I was a little kid so to come along behind him ... on Broadway and do something that people dream their whole lives of doing is pretty amazing." Nichols has also released a new single, "Believers," to country radio. According to cmt.com.
